About the Open Shelf
Right now, The Open Shelf is a big dream.
But it’s also the beginning of something I’ve been carrying with me for a long time.
My name is Megan. I’m a former librarian and bookseller who has loved reading for as long as I can remember. Books have always been more than just stories to me; they’ve been comfort, curiosity, connection, and a way to understand the world a little better.
I’m also a small business owner and a mom, and one of my favorite things is showing my daughter that we really can build something meaningful when we follow what lights us up.
The Open Shelf was created as a way to share my love for books in a slower, more intentional way. A place for thoughtfully curated new, used, and surprise reads. A place where choosing a book feels personal again, not rushed, not random, not driven by an algorithm.
My hope is to one day grow this into a mobile bookstore, and maybe even a brick-and-mortar space. For now, you’ll find me here curating books with care, creating little moments of surprise, and (hopefully) meeting you at markets in Wilson County, TN along the way.
More than anything, The Open Shelf exists to support community in one of the best ways I know how: through reading.
Thanks for being here, for following along, and for cheering this dream forward with me. I’m so glad you found your way to the shelf.
